SC East Bengal have announced the signing of promising forward Rahul Paswan for the remainder of the Indian Super League season. Paswan, 23, joins the Red-&-Gold brigade after topping the scoring charts in this season's Calcutta Football League, netting six goals.

"It's a dream come true for me, joining a prestigious club like SC East Bengal. Every footballer from Bengal aspires to play for these big teams and I am no exception. I will look forward to giving my best and helping the team in whatever way I can," he said when signing for the Kolkata side.

"Paswan is a good, young talent. He is a good addition to the side and I am sure he will do well for us," said head coach Mario Rivera.

Rahul Paswan is the third new arrival at the club following the signings of Marcelo Ribeiro and Fran Sota. The club is also reportedly in talks with another player from the Calcutta Football League. SC East Bengal had already parted ways with previous head coach Manolo Diaz and appointed Mario Rivera as their head coach for the remainder of this season.

SC East Bengal in ISL 2021-22

The Red and Golds Brigade are currently struggling at the bottom of the ISL 2021-22 points table with nine points from 13 matches. They have won only one game so far, against FC Goa, while losing and drawing six each. Their win over FC Goa two games ago ended the club's 15-match winless run in the ISL. But the victory over Goa was followed by a 0-4 thrashing at the hands of Hyderabad FC in their next game. SC East Bengal take on ATK Mohun Bagan next in the Kolkata Derby on Saturday (January 29).
