The coach has assured the fans an interesting game against Bengaluru FC.
After a closely-contested fixture in December, Chennaiyin FC are gearing up for their second meeting against Bengaluru at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa in the Indian Super League. The Marina Machans will be looking to end their four-game winless run against a strong Blues side. Ahead of the crucial fixture, head coach Csaba Laszlo addressed the media on Thursday.
Future at club
With the club being in the bottom half of the table, the tactician was asked about how he sees his future at the club. “I don’t want to think about my future. I think about the future of the club," he said. He feels that the team is here to try and win games and his attention is solely on preparing them. Chennaiyin ideally need to win all their remaining matches to be in the top four and the Romanian is confident that it is "not too much."
Struggle to score
The coach is hoping for the team to wear their goalscoring boots for tomorrow’s match and display good football. He said that the team has created a lot of chances, but have failed to capitalize on them. The game against Bengaluru FC will be treated with utmost importance and the players are expected to make the most out of this difficult fixture.
The ‘X-Factor’
“Lanza (Manuel Lanzarote) is a good player and he knows the Indian league very well. He is available for tomorrow’s match. He has shown good progress in training and is undoubtedly a player who can make a difference,” quoted Csaba Laszlo when asked about the new signing's availability.
Lanzarote was acquired after captain Rafael Crivellaro suffered an ankle ligament injury and was ruled out for the rest of the season. The coach also expressed how much he missed the midfielder and how his absence has created a void in midfield. The arrival of the Spaniard has boosted the hopes of the fans and Csaba Lazlo is banking on the 36-year-old to get the victory against Bengaluru.
Injury Updates
The coach has confirmed that Anirudh Thapa will be available for tomorrow. He said that the team had been affected badly by the injuries to Thapa as well as Crivellaro. He believes Thapa would certainly contribute to get a win past Bengaluru, but the injury concerns are something the club and the coaching staff are looking into, given the significance of the upcoming matches.
