SC East Bengal in advanced talks to sign India international Adil Khan

The versatile player had recently penned a new contract at Hyderabad FC in the summer transfer window.
Indian Super League new entrants SC East Bengal are looking to strengthen their backline and are in advanced talks with current Hyderabad FC defender Adil Khan, Khel Now can confirm. If the deal is finalized, Khan will join the Red and Gold in the January transfer window on a permanent deal.
“Adil had signed a contract extension at Hyderabad in the summer, but East Bengal are ready to pay his release clause,” a source close to the development informed Khel Now.
East Bengal have had a disappointing maiden ISL campaign and have leaked goals in almost every game so far, something the club want to fix at the earliest. The source went on to add that the club are planning a major overhaul and Adil’s transfer is a part of the larger process undertaken by the management.
Adil Khan has been a consistent performer in the league ever since he joined FC Pune City in 2017. He was also Hyderabad’s most influential player last season. Unfortunately, he has featured only twice this campaign, clocking only 17 minutes of game-time. It also makes one wonder why the Nizams announced him as the club captain before the season began.

On the other hand, SC East Bengal are struggling to get the first full three points so far. The Kolkata giants have already released a number of players from the squad and are very keen to rope in the India national to bolster their defence.
