The 32-year-old twice won the I-League with Mohun Bagan in 2014-15 and 2019-20.

Indian Super League (ISL) new entrants East Bengal are all set to sign experienced goalkeeper Debjit Majumder ahead of the upcoming season, Khel Now has learnt.

The 32-year-old appeared for city rivals Mohun Bagan last season in the I-League and won the title with them. He started the first two games of the campaign against Aizawl FC and Churchill Brothers and also kept a clean-sheet against the former. However, after some impressive displays, Shilton Paul cemented his place as the Mariners' No. 1, thus restricting Debjit Majumder to the bench until the end.

Nevertheless, Majumder is one of the highly-experienced custodians in the country, having plied his trade with Indian Super League clubs as well. Having bagged six clean-sheets during the Mariners' I-League title triumph in 2015, he was loaned out to Mumbai City FC, where he appeared twice. Thereafter, he was picked up by ATK in the 2016 season and the shot-stopper earned plenty of game-time, even winning the ISL title with them.

Looking at his performances, Debjit Majumder was retained by the club for the 2017-18 campaign, during which he made 12 appearances. Overall, the goalkeeper has recorded eight clean-sheets in the ISL and could turn out to be a great signing for East Bengal. The Red and Gold have begun announcing their new signings for the upcoming term after appointing Robbie Fowler as their new head coach. On Tuesday, they announced the signing of defender Scott Neville on a season-long loan from A-League side Brisbane Roar.
