Robbie Fowler claims East Bengal should've beaten FC Goa twice

The Englishman also backed Anthony Pilkington who missed a spot-kick in the first minute of the game.
SC East Bengal put up yet another valiant performance against FC Goa, as they came back from a one-goal deficit, courtesy Danny Fox’s maiden Indian Super League goal. The Red and Gold had their fair share of chances which if converted, could have made a difference in the scoreline in their favour. Head coach Robbie Fowler addressed the media and expressed his views on the game.
Unlucky recent results
“We have been massively unlucky,” started Robbie Fowler, as he shared his views on the team's recent results. The Englishman believes that his team dominated the game against the Gaurs and should have ended up with full three points rather than one. He also stressed that the team’s character on the pitch reflects how they've improved over time. “We as a team have massively improved. We have played Goa twice now and should have beaten them twice, which shows how well we have done,” he added.
“All the greats have missed penalties”
SC East Bengal won a penalty in the opening moments of the game, but unfortunately, Anthony Pilkington failed to convert from the spot. Questions were asked on whether Pilkington should be the penalty-taker of the team. Robbie Fowler answered, “Pilkington is our penalty-taker, obviously Bright will be the penalty-taker when Pils is not playing. Let's not have a go at any player for missing penalty, all the greats have missed penalties.”
The season is not over
Fowler emphasized that although the game was full of positive takeaways for him, the only negative was that he couldn't walk away with full three points. “The negatives are that we haven't won the game. It was a game that we probably dominated and had a lot of chances,” commented the Liverpool legend.
Although SC East Bengal are placed 10th in the table, Robbie Fowler claimed that the season is far from over for him. “There have been a lot of draws in and around us, we are five or six points behind the top four. We have shown that we are a team capable of getting results,” the tactician stated.
About Jeje and Rafique getting back
India internationals Jeje Lalpekhlua and Mohammed Rafique made it to the starting XI after a long time and Robbie Fowler credited their hard work on the practice grounds for their comeback. “It was their performance on the training pitch,” he explained. “It's the same with anyone, if you go out there and train and if you're putting in the hard yards on the training pitch,” he added.
