Hyderabad FC sign A-League winger Joel Chianese

The 30-year-old winger is the club’s first prominent transfer since the previous season’s conclusion.
Hyderabad FC have signed Australian winger Joel Chianese from A-League club Perth Glory FC, Khel Now has learnt. The 30-year-old has played professional football in his native country, New Zealand and Malaysia. He even represented his current club in one AFC Champions League match in the 2019-20 campaign.
Chianese can play on both flanks and possesses many traits that are sought-after from a modern-day winger. He is quick, boasts of immaculate control over the ball and releases decisive passes in the final third.
In the 2019-20 season, he took 22 shots with 11 of them being on target. An accuracy of 50% in this aspect showcases his goalscoring potential. In addition to that, Joel Chianese netted four goals and notched three assists in 19 A-League matches for Perth Glory this term.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad FC had released 10 players from their roster at the start of this month. They scored 21 goals in their 18 matches last season, but 12 of those goals were bagged by the duo of Bobo and Marcelinho. They even faced a dearth of adequate creative outlets in the forward line, as none of the players barring the skipper, notched more than a single assist.
On the other hand, the defensive issues that the Nizams battled meant that they had a goal difference of -18 at the end of the season. With someone like Albert Roca at the helm, the team management would be looking to resolve these issues gradually.
Joel Chianese could arguably be a significant upgrade on the players that Hyderabad have in the attacking department currently. Moreover, Marcelinho had hinted that he is looking for a new team in the ISL too.
