Kerala Blasters sign midfielder Rohit Kumar

The 23-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the southerners.

Kerala Blasters has announced the signing of the 23-year-old midfielder Rohit Kumar from Hyderabad FC for the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL). Kumar has a signed a two-year deal with the club, which will keep him in Kochi till 2022.

The Delhi-born player started his career at the Bhaichung Bhutia Football School before joining the DSK Shivajians LFC Academy. The youngster captained Delhi in the B.C. Roy Trophy in 2013 and was part of the India U-19 squad in 2015. In 2016, he was promoted to the senior team for the Durand Cup. The midfielder displayed consistent performances in the I-League in the season, which earned him a contract with FC Pune City, debuting in the Indian Super League (ISL).

He completed two seasons with the now defunct ISL outfit, scoring two goals in the process, before moving to Hyderabad FC for the sixth edition of the ISL. The central midfielder featured in nine matches and scored a goal for Hyderabad FC in the 2019-20 season. Having qualities of dependability and consistency, Kerala Blasters adds depth in their midfield with this signing.
