The striker has played 17 matches for Bengaluru FC and was not a part of their matchday squad against NorthEast United last week.
Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Northeast United FC have officially announced the signing of Deshorn Brown. Earlier on Friday, the player had parted ways with his former club Bengaluru FC by mutual consent.
"NorthEast United FC would like to announce that striker Deshorn Brown has joined the club from Bengaluru FC. Brown makes the move having scored 7 goals in 20 appearances for BFC since joining the ISL club in January 2020. Previously Brown has plied his trade in the USA, Norway, China and Spain, having played for Colorado Rapids, DC United and Shenzen FC to name a few. Brown has also featured for the Jamaican national team with 2 goals in 14 outings for the Reggae Boyz," the club's official statement read.
The Highlanders' Executive Director Priya Runchal was also available for comment, as she said, "Deshorn brings with him the experience of playing in the top leagues across the world as well as a knowledge of Indian football - both of which is incredibly valuable during this stage of the Hero ISL.
"We are confident that he will hit the ground running and will have an impact on the team as we look to push for a playoff spot," she added further.
So far in the ongoing 2020-21 season, Brown made 10 appearances for Bengaluru FC, also registering an assist during the win against Odisha FC on December 17. On December 8, he featured in the 2-2 draw against NEUFC but was not named a part of matchday squad against the same opposition on January 12. Now that he has signed for NorthEast, he will play for them in their remaining league-stage matches.
Meanwhile, both Bengaluru FC and NorthEast United are going through identical lean phases, at sixth and eighth place on the points table respectively. While the Blues have not won any of their last five outings, the Highlanders are on a seven-match winless run. Both teams have also parted ways with their head coaches Carles Cuadrat and Gerard Nus respectively, with Naushad Moosa and Khalid Jamil taking charge instead in the interim.
