Earlier last week, the Mariners’ match against Odisha FC was also postponed.

On Saturday, the Indian Super League (ISL) organizers decided to postpone the ATK Mohun Bagan vs Bengaluru FC clash that was set to take place later in the day.

“Indian Super League (ISL) announces the postponement of the match between ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC scheduled to be played on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at PJN Stadium, Fatorda. Each match is assessed on a number of factors including the ability of the clubs to field a team; the severity of Covid-19 breakout at the club(s); and the ability of the club personnel to safely prepare for and play the match,” the league said via their official statement.

The statement further read, “The health and safety of all personnel in various bubbles remains our priority, and the League & Clubs will continue to monitor the situation and act accordingly.”

Based on the statement, one can only assume that either ATKMB or BFC or both teams are currently unable to field a team and/or staff members due to COVID-19 outbreaks within their bio-bubble. It is not yet specified as to what date the match has been postponed to.

ATK Mohun Bagan’s matches are getting postponed for the second time in a row now – as earlier last week, their clash against Odisha FC was also put off for a later date. In other news, at least six teams – including ATKMB, BFC, OFC, FC Goa and Kerala Blasters – are struggling due to COVID-19 outbreaks.

Khel Now has learned that players of ATKMB, OFC and FC Goa have tested positive for the virus, and it remains to be seen as to whether more games will be postponed by the ISL organizers in the coming days.
