The full-back excelled for NorthEast United in ISL 2020-21, after which he made his debut for the Indian football team.
Indian Super League (ISL) outfit ATK Mohun Bagan officially confirmed the signing of Ashutosh Mehta on Tuesday evening. The experienced full-back will hence be a part of the Mariners' squad in the upcoming 2021-22 season.
"With a first Blue Tigers cap to his name following an impressive ISL season, Ashutosh Mehta is a Mariner once again!" ATK Mohun Bagan announced via their social media handles.
Ashutosh Mehta began his football career with the now-defunct Mumbai FC. In 2014, he joined FC Pune City, making his ISL debut with them soon after. The following year, he shifted base to Mumbai City FC and made 11 appearances for them in ISL 2015.

The 30-year-old then joined Aizawl FC on a loan deal ahead of the 2016-17 season. His I-League campaign with The People's Club culminated with his first league triumph. He featured for them in 20 matches across all competitions, before signing with ATK in 2017. This was followed by a second stint at Pune City, before Mohun Bagan came calling for the defender in 2019.
Mehta won his second I-League title with Mohun Bagan in the 2019-20 season and consistent performances with them led to his return to the ISL with NorthEast United.
In ISL 2020-21, the full-back clocked 1406 minutes across 18 games, scoring twice and registering two assists. He also averaged 3.44 tackles, 1.28 interceptions, 2.78 clearances and 1.44 blocks per game during the campaign. Less than a month after the conclusion of the league, Mehta also made his India debut in an International Friendly against Oman. He will now join the ATK Mohun Bagan squad and represent them in the forthcoming 2021-22 season of the ISL.
