After prizing away Hugo Boumous from Mumbai City, ATK Mohun Bagan have now completed the signing of young Bidyananda Singh. The 23-year-old midfielder joins the Mariners on a one-year deal. ATKMB announced the signing on Monday.

Bidyananda Singh, who came through the AIFF and Bengaluru FC academies, had left ATK in 2017 and joined Bengaluru FC. He later moved to Mumbai City before making a return to the Kolkata-based club on a one-year deal. "We are delighted to announce that Bidyananda Singh is back in the City of Joy as he signs a one-year deal with the Green & Maroon!" The Indian Super League club announced on social media.

His career so far

In his two seasons with Mumbai City FC, Bidyananda Singh played only 10 games, mostly from the bench. He made only one start for the club in a 5-2 defeat to FC Goa. However, all 10 of his appearances for Mumbai City FC came in the 2019-20 season. Bidyananda did not play a single game for the club last season.

Incidentally, he had made his ISL debut for ATK against Mumbai City FC in 2016. During his one-season spell with ATK previously, Bidyananda made six appearances. His only ISL goal to-date came against Jamshedpur FC in a dramatic 2-1 win for Mumbai. Bidyananda had scored with a brilliant drive in injury-time to lead Mumbai to victory. He also assisted a goal in the same season against Hyderabad FC.

The Manipur lad is also one of the two Indian players, who were part of a one-week camp at the Aspire Academy in Qatar in 2014. After returning from Qatar, Bidyananda joined the AIFF Elite Academy. He eventually signed for ISL outfit ATK in 2016, but was sold to Bengaluru FC after just one season. Bidyananda played eight games for Bengaluru's reserve team, but could not break into the senior side.
