Chennaiyin FC sign Ninthoi from NorthEast United for undisclosed fee
The young winger has made 24 appearances to- date in the ISL.
Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Chennaiyin FC have completed the signing of Ninthoi Meetei on a multi-year deal from NorthEast United, Khel Now can confirm. The Marina Machans paid the Highlanders an undisclosed fee to acquire his services.
"Ninthoi Meetei will represent Chennaiyin FC in ISL 2021-22. He will remain with them beyond this season as well, having signed a long-term deal with the club just a while ago. The transfer did not happen easily for CFC. They had to shell out a transfer fee to bring him in," sources close to the developments informed Khel Now.

About the player
Khumanthem Ninthoinganba Meetei, popularly known as 'Ninthoi' hails from Manipur. His earliest claim to fame was his selection to the AIFF Elite Academy batch that was preparing for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017.
After the blockbuster tournament, he signed for Indian Arrows and featured in the I-League. A winger by trade, Ninthoi made 27 appearances for the Arrows in his first two seasons with them. He also scored two goals in the process. This was followed by NorthEast United taking him on their books ahead of the 2019-20 ISL season.

The 20-year-old made 11 ISL appearances in his debut season. He then followed it up with 13 more games that he played in the 2020-21 campaign.
And now, as mentioned above, Ninthoi will turn up for Chennaiyin FC starting from the forthcoming season.
Chennaiyin FC's pre-season preparations
Led by new head coach Bozidar Bandovic, CFC are quickly building a squad for ISL 2021-22. They have already confirmed five of their six foreign signings, with the final one expected to be an attacking player. They have also announced contract extensions for some of their most important domestic players in Rahim Ali, Reagan Singh and Edwin Sydney Vanspaul. Additionally, the likes of Jobby Justin, Deepak Devrani and Davinder Singh have also joined - as new signings.
After wrapping up last season's campaign at a disappointing eighth place, the two-time ISL winners are understandably determined to reach the playoffs next season.
