The centre-back enjoyed a fruitful season in India with the Nizams.
Former Hyderabad FC defender Odei Onaindia has left the ISL club ahead of the new season. He has now signed for LaLiga Segunda Division side CD Mirandes once again, a club for whom he had played between 2018-2020.
The 31-year-old impressed in his debut Indian football season while representing Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League (ISL). He joined the Nizams from Mirandes ahead of the 2020-21 season and will now return to his former club.
Mirandes officially announced Onaindia's signing on Thursday, July 8.
"CD Mirandes and Odei Onaindia have reached an agreement for the latter's return to the club, where he played for two seasons before leaving for a campaign in the ISL. This will hence be his third season with Mirandes," the official statement read.

Onaindia quickly settled in the ISL, going on to play all of the 20 league stage games for the Nizams. Head coach Manolo Marquez put a lot of faith in the fellow Spaniard, who led a young defensive line with aplomb. At Hyderabad FC, the 31-year-old played alongside young Indian defenders like Chinglensana Singh, Akash Mishra and Asish Rai. He played a crucial role in guiding these players who impressed as the season went on.
The numbers behind his performance
Hyderabad FC’s resolute defending earned a lot of praise by their fans and neutrals alike. The outfit conceded only 19 goals throughout the sason, the third-lowest among all clubs. A huge credit for such a performance falls on Onaindia and his leadership qualities. Further, he stood against the physically demanding nature of the league. Adapting to the climatic conditions of the subcontinent is not easy for European players.
The centre-back excelled in humid conditions, recording 1795 minutes of football overall for Hyderabad FC and guiding them to a fifth place finish. He also had a passing accuracy of 82.46%, helping the Nizams build from the back. Onaindia also registered 36 tackles, 31 interceptions, 80 clearances and 36 blocks.

CD Mirandes and their ambitions
CD Mirandes will hope to reinforce their squad by signing Odei Onaindia ahead of the 2021-22 season. The outfit finished at the 11th place in the previous campaign at the Segunda Division. They will hope to challenge for one of the promotion places next term and roping in the defender is a step in that direction.
Hyderabad FC fans will be disappointed but thankful nonetheless to their Spanish defender. After his departure, the club will look for an ideal replacement before the next season starts. As reported by Khel Now earlier, a move for Juanan is in the works and he is likely to join them and continue leading the young defenders, as Onaindia did.
