The 25-year-old excelled for the Port Towners in the Goa Pro League 2020-21 season.

Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Kerala Blasters are all set to complete the signing of Anil Gaonkar from Vasco SC, Khel Now can confirm. The winger will sign a multi-year deal with the southerners ahead of the upcoming season.

"Kerala Blasters will sign Gaonkar on a multi-year deal," a source close to the developments informed Khel Now. Anil Gaonkar has been an integral part of the Vasco SC in the previous seasons. Most recently, he excelled for the Port Towners in the Goa Pro League 2020-21, scoring three goals. He was also the joint-top scorer for his team in the league, alongside Joaquim Abranches.

The 25-year-old winger is best known for his pace and dribbling skills. At Kerala Blasters, he could be an asset to newly appointed head coach Ivan Vukomanovic, who will join the club soon.

Kerala Blasters post ISL 2020-21

Kerala Blasters had a disappointing campaign in ISL 2020-21, finishing at the 10th spot in the standings. They won just three out of their 20 league games and parted ways with then-head coach Kibu Vicuna mid-way through the season.

After reaching the ISL finals in 2014 and 2016, the club have slipped down to mediocrity. Now with the appointment of Vukomanovic, Kerala Blasters would look to put an end to this miserable run of form - and as a first step, they have already started to find reinforcements for the squad. New signings Sanjeev Stalin and Ruivah Hormipam have already been announced by the club and so have Denechandra Meitei's three-year extension as reported earlier by Khel Now.

Additionally, the southerners also signed Vincy Barretto and Harmanjot Khabra, while Sandeep Singh has penned a multi-year extension as well. More signings will follow and the club are also looking to offload one or more players in the coming weeks.
