The Nizams caused a huge upset against Mumbai City with a gritty performance.
Hyderabad FC made a huge statement by defeating reigning Indian Super League (ISL) champions Mumbai City FC on Saturday. Manolo Marquez and Co. completed a terrific comeback and emerged 3-1 winners against the Islanders. This was also their first-ever victory over MCFC and their first win of the 2021-22 season.
Ahmed Jahouh gave Mumbai City the lead early on, but it was not enough. Afterwards, three goals from Joao Victor, Bartholomew Ogbeche and Rohit Danu ensured three points and the win for Hyderabad. Manolo Marquez was exceptional with his tactics and kept the opposition silent with brilliant shape and changes. Des Buckingham tasted his first defeat in the ISL and will have a few issues to solve ahead of the forthcoming games.

Marquez setup his team well and his game-management was on point. The tactician also spoke to the media in the post-match press conference:
Feeling after result
Both teams came into the fixture with contrasting results in the previous game, which made this result even more surprising. “We are very happy because Mumbai is the current champion, they have a very good team.
"I think they won 3-0 the other day and they scored very soon today. But, Hyderabad played well in many minutes of the game and it was a great win for us,” Manolo Marquez began, in response to how he felt after the outcome of the match.
The key factor behind result
Hyderabad FC lost their opening game to Chennaiyin FC, despite dominating proceedings. Speaking on what was the key defining factor, the tactician said, “Sometimes football is crazy. I think that we did not deserve to lose against Chennaiyin. I am very satisfied with the team and we deserved to win. But, the game was more equal than what the 3-1 (scoreline) shows.
"I am very satisfied because we won against the champion, one of the favourites for the title," he further added.

Praise for scorers
Manolo Marquez was full of praise while talking about his scorers, especially Rohit Danu. “I think Bart and Rohit share a father-and-son-like bond. Rohit is 19-years-old and Bart is 37. Everyone knows who Bart Ogbeche is. He has scored goals for NorthEast (United), Kerala (Blasters) and Mumbai and now he will surely score goals for Hyderabad.
"I think I told you last season itself, that Rohit Danu will be one of the best Indian players in the future. for sure. I think a lot of people know him already, he has played in various levels of the junior national team. Rohit will surely play for the senior Indian football team in future," saying so, the HFC boss signed off.
