NorthEast United set to sign ex-Hyderabad FC winger Laldanmawia Ralte
The 28-year-old made just two appearances for Hyderabad FC in the ISL last season.
Indian Super League (ISL) outfit NorthEast United are all set to complete the signing of Laldanmawia Ralte, Khel Now can confirm. The winger will put to pen to paper on a multi-year deal with the Highlanders.
"Laldanmawia Ralte will join NorthEast United this summer. He has agreed terms and the club have offered him the contract. The player will sign a multi-year deal with them in the coming days," a source close to the developments informed Khel Now. Popularly known as 'Danmawia', the 28-year-old was with Hyderabad FC till the end of the 2020-21 season, after which he became a free agent.

Laldanmawia Ralte's career
Born in a farming family, Danmawia may owe his football beginnings to his father, who was crazy about the game. In 2009, he joined the Mizoram Armed Police Academy after performing well in the Red Ribbon tournament. Three years later, he made his debut in the inaugural Mizoram Premier League with Dinthar FC.
In his very first season in the league, the forward became the joint-top scorer and won the Best Player award as his team lifted the title. In 2014, he was also a part of the Mizoram state team that won the Santhosh Trophy. Laldanmawia later began his national league career with Aizawl FC and played an important role in their historic I-League victory in the 2016-17 season. The following season, he joined East Bengal and went on to represent them for two years.
Ahead of the 2019-20 ISL season, Hyderabad FC came calling and soon afterwards, he made his debut in the top flight league. To-date, the 28-year-old has made seven appearances in the ISL - but has not made much of an impact. He will now look to turn that around at his new club, NorthEast United.

NorthEast United's pre-season preparations
The Highlanders did well in ISL 2020-21, as evident from their third-place finish in the league. Eventually, they lost to ATK Mohun Bagan over two legs in the playoffs.
Led by Khalid Jamil, who is most likely to continue as head coach, NEUFC are keen to maintain their good form in the forthcoming season. While Khassa Camara has already agreed terms on his extension, the club are hopeful that Dylan Fox, Deshorn Brown and Federico Gallego will follow suit. They have also been in talks with domestic players other than Laldanmawia and various overseas stars.
