Odisha FC set to sign Spanish defender Hector Rodas

The 33-year-old has made 38 appearances in the La Liga during his career.
Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Odisha FC are close to completing the signing of Hector Rodas, Khel Now can confirm. The Spaniard will become their second foreign defender at the club after Victor Mongil, whose arrival was announced by the club last week.
"Hector Rodas is on the verge of signing with Odisha FC. He is all set to become a part of their squad in the upcoming 2021-22 season of the ISL. The 33-year-old has agreed terms on a season-long deal," a source close to developments informed Khel Now.

Hector Rodas' career so far
Rodas began his footballing career at Levante UD's youth teams. He was promoted to their Reserves side in 2007 and then to their first team two years later.
He continued at Levante till 2015, and during this period, also moved to Elche CF on a six-month loan deal. Stints at Real Betis and Cordoba CF followed before he moved out of Spain for the first time in his career. This was in 2017, when he joined Belgian top-division club Cercle Brugge KSV on a two-year contract. The following year, he returned to his home country once again to feature for AD Alcorcon on another loan move.
In 2019, the 33-year-old signed a two-year deal at Cultural Leonesa and featured for them in the Spanish third-division. Earlier this month, he parted ways with them and will now join Odisha on a free transfer.
A centre-back by trade, Hector Rodas has made over 230 appearances so far across a 14-year-old senior club career.

Odisha FC's pre-season preparations
After a disappointing bottom-placed finish in ISL 2020-21, Odisha FC are keen to overturn their fortunes in the forthcoming season. They have already announced the appointment of Kiko Ramirez as their head coach.
So far, the Juggernauts have announced the signings of Sahil Panwar, Sebastian Thangmuansang, Lalruatthara, Isaac Vanmalsawma, Victor Mongil and Javi Hernandez. Additionally, they have also handed Jerry Mawihmingthanga a long-term contract extension. More announcements and contract extensions can be expected from them in the weeks to come. The next season of the Indian Super League begins November 19.
