The 23-year-old impressed for George Telegraph in the CFL.

Young talented defender Nabi Hussain Khan is in talks with SC East Bengal to sign for next season. The 23-year-old right-back from George Telegraph is in the club’s plans for next season’s Calcutta Football League and IFA Shield.

Nabi Hussain Khan started his football career with the U-18 team of Mohammedan SC. He made his senior debut for George Telegraph in the 2017-18 CFL season. Nabi impressed fans with his brilliant performances in the 2021 campaign. He also has the experience of playing in the I-League Qualifiers for Mohammedan SC. Currently, he is a major part of the Santosh Trophy team for West Bengal.

Strengths

Nabi operates from the right flank. His speed can be of great use for any ISL or I-League team. Nabi’s work-rate ad agility also make him a great asset to have in any team. Still only 23, the defender though has a lot to improve on his defensive positioning skills.

SC East Bengal in Indian Super League

The Red & Gold Brigade, under then head coach Robbie Fowler, finished their ISL 2020-21 campaign in ninth place on the standings. During the summer, Fowler was replaced by Manolo Diaz, but that did not change the club’s fortunes.

Due to the poor performances at the start of the season, SC East Bengal parted ways with the Spaniard. Renedy Singh then took over as an interim coach for the next three games. But, as Renedy doesn’t have an AFC Pro License, the SCEB officials decided to hire Mario Rivera as their head coach. SC East Bengal are currently in 10th position, with 10 points from 17 matches and just a single win.

With investors Shree Cement most likely to leave at the end of this season, SC East Bengal are already in search of a new backer. The club officials have also started team building for the next season to change their fortunes in the ISL.
