SC East Bengal sign Brazilian striker Marcelo Ribeiro on loan

The 24-year-old was playing for Portuguese club Gil Vicente FC.
SC East Bengal announced the signing of young Brazilian striker Marcelo Ribeiro dos Santos on loan from Gil Vicente FC till the end of the season subject to clearances, the club announced on Monday.
Marcelo joins the red and gold brigade from Primeira Liga in Portugal, where he was plying his trade for Gil Vicente FC. He made his debut for Gil Vicente FC last year in August. Before he joined Portuguese outfit Gil Vicente FC, the 24-year old played for Spanish clubs Burgos CF and Sanse.
“I am pleased to join SC East Bengal. It is one of the biggest clubs in India, and I am really looking forward to joining the team and help them in the league,” he said after putting pen to paper for the club.
SC East Bengal in ISL 2021-22
The Red and Gold Brigade held the defending champions Mumbai City FC to a goalless draw in their previous game. SC East Bengal are unbeaten in their last three matches all of which have ended in draws, leaving them winless in 10 matches. The number stretches to 14 overall. Renedy Singh’s side are at the bottom of the standings with six points.

The club recently announced former club assistant and coach Mario Rivera as their head coach for the remainder of ISL 2021-22 season. Earlier, SC East Bengal had parted ways Manolo Diaz following a six-game winless run. Rivera, however, is yet to take charge of the team. With him quarantining, assistant coach Renedy Singh has taken charge of the side and has led SC East Bengal to consecutive draws against Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City.
SC East Bengal also parted ways with striker Daniel Chima following the game against Mumbai City. Chima it was revealed left the club due to family reasons.
