Dimitri Petratos joins ATK Mohun Bagan on one-year contract
The Australian was part of the country's FIFA World Cup squad in 2018.
ATK Mohun Bagan have completed the signing of Dimitri Petratos. Khel Now can confirm that the Australian international has signed a one-year contract with the club. The 29-year-old was also part of the national team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
A source informed Khel Now, “Petratos has signed a one-year deal with ATK Mohun Bagan.” He joins the Mariners as a replacement for the outgoing Roy Krishna, who has joined Bengaluru FC on a one year contract, with an option to extend it for another year.
The former ATK Mohun Bagan striker also had an offer from his former club Wellington Phoenix, but chose to remain in India with BFC.

With the signature of Petratos, the Mariners have completed their foreign contingent for the season. Though ATK Mohun Bagan have signed him as a forward, the player is more accustomed to a second striker role.
Hence, Juan Ferrando, who uses his strikers as a false nine might be using him in a similar role, Khel Now understands. Ferrando did the same with Jorge Ortiz during his stay at FC Goa.
About The Player
Dimitri Petratos boasts of a rich pedigree. He has featured in the World Cup 2018 for Australia. In his career, the player has played for clubs like Newcastle United Jets, Western Sydney Wanderers, Al Wehda (on loan from Western Sydney Wanderers) and Brisbane Roar among others.

In a career featuring 281 appearances, Petratos has netted 54 goals and provided 36 assists. Apart from playing 221 matches in the A-League, the Aussie has 14 appearances in the AFC Champions League as well. Hence, his pedigree will be of great use to ATK Mohun Bagan in their upcoming AFC Cup campaign.
ATK Mohun Bagan’s preparation for ISL 2022/23
The Mariners have their squad in place. A few departures in the form of Roy Krishna and David Williams have taken place. Tiri is injured and currently under treatment in Spain.

Since it’s a long-term injury, he will not feature this season. Also, whether the club will retain him or not is unknown. A source informed Khel Now that the club is willing to offload right-back Ashutosh Mehta as well.
However, the impact of these departures is lessened due to the signings of Florentin Pogba and Brendan Hamill. Amongst the Indian recruits, Vishal Kaith, Ashique Kuruniyan and Asish Rai have joined the club on long-term deals. Even the contracts of Kiyan Nasiri, Ravi Rana, Abhishek Suryavanshi and Arsh Anwer have been extended.
Prior to the ISL, Juan Ferrando’s side will play in the Durand Cup and AFC Cup Inter-Zonal semi-finals. The AFC event seems to be the bird’s eye for the club and they will aim to do well in the competition.
