The Fijian striker joined Bengaluru FC on a two-year contract this summer.
Formerly with ATK Mohun Bagan, Roy Krishna is now a true blue. The Fijian joined Bengaluru FC this summer on a two-year deal after leaving ATKMB. At BFC, Krishna will partner alongside a few of his former teammates from ATK and ATKMB. Prabir Das, Javi Hernandez and now Sandesh Jhingan have joined Bengaluru FC. At the club is also a former ISL winner with ATK FC Jayesh Rane.
Krishna, who also won the ISL title with ATK, spoke about his move in a press conference. Here is what he had to say.
Move to Bengaluru FC
Roy was the focal point of ATK & ATK Mohun Bagan’s recent ISL success, scoring 36 goals from 60 appearances for the Kolkata-based clubs.

When asked about how he is settling in Bengaluru, Roy answered “After speaking to the coach, I am confident that he will help me as a player. I saw a lot of positives from Mandar Tamhane’s vision for the club and the others behind the scenes have helped me understand the culture and philosophy of the club. Bengaluru FC has won trophies so the objective is always that, to win more trophies.”
Current squad composition of Bengaluru FC
Roy Krishna is a key part of BFC’s rebuild and will hope to mirror the trust the management has placed on him. Leading the frontlines for a new team will be a challenging task, but the 34-year-old believes that the squad is a close-knit unit with many friendly faces.

On being asked about the composition, Roy replied “Sunil (Chhetri) bhai is a great role model. I will learn a lot from him. We have a very good squad, a very young team with talented youngsters. A few of them played last season and were really good. I am very excited to meet them and I can speak Hindi and share my experience, which will help them with whatever knowledge I have about football.

"I always found playing against BFC very challenging. They were a very defensive side and scoring against them was very difficult. I spoke to Mandar and Sunil bhai and this is a club that knows how to win trophies, so hopefully, we can perform well this season.
"It is good to have old teammates and friends Prabir (Das), Javi (Hernandez), Jayesh (Rane), and Sandesh (Jhingan) here. They are a good bunch of players and credit goes to Mandar and the staff for building this team.”
Roy Krishna signed off by mentioning the positive influence Sunil Chhetri had on him picking Bengaluru as his new home. He said, “With the squad we have, the project becomes much easier. Hopefully, we can bring glory and smiles on the fans of Bengaluru FC.”
