Souvik Chakrabarti signs three-year deal with East Bengal

The midfielder played 16 matches last season in the ISL.
East Bengal have signed Souvik Chakrabarti on a three-year deal, Khel Now can confirm. A source close to the development informed Khel Now, “Souvik Chakrabarti has signed a three-year deal. His medicals are completed.”
The player had been linked with the club for a long time. Finally, he puts pen to paper. This makes him join the list of players who have appeared for both the Kolkata giants in his playing career.
About the player
Souvik Chakrabarti’s career started at Mohun Bagan. He has played for Kolkata-based outfit United SC. Also, he has enjoyed a year of playing at Air India. His career also has many loan spells to Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos. In 2017, the player joined Jamshedpur FC. After spending a season with the new ISL debutants, he made a move to Mumbai City.
He was at times used as right-back as well. However, in 2020, when he joined Hyderabad FC, head coach Manolo Marquez preferred to field in him the natural central midfield role. Chakrabarti appeared 16 times in the Indian Super League last season. In the process, he provided two assists for his teammates. The 30-year-old has played a total of 213 matches in his career till now. Three goals and three assists shine by his name!
East Bengal’s preparations for ISL 2022/23
East Bengal have signed the agreement with their investors Emami Group. The joint venture has appointed Stephen Constantine as their head coach. Bino George has been brought in to assist the Englishman. Players such as Ivan Gonzalez, Mohammad Rakip and Mobashir Rahman from ISL sides have been sent pre-contracts.
They will be signing their contracts in a few days, Khel Now understands. Even talented locals like Nabi Hussain Khan, Suryash Jaiswal, academy graduate Dip Saha have been added to the ranks. The club’s recent signing was Aniket Jadhav.
