The centre-back played all 20 league matches for the Nizams during his previous stint.

Central defender Odei Onaindia has signed for Hyderabad FC. Thus, he will be donning the Hyderabad FC colours again. The player was previously a part of Manolo Marquez’s side in the 2020/21 edition of the Indian Super League. Hyderabad FC finished fifth back in that season. The team conceded only 19 goals. Undoubtedly, the 32-year-old played a crucial role in that feat.

About the Player

After leaving Hyderabad FC in 2021, Odei Onaindia joined Spanish side CD Mirandes. He played 27 matches for the club in the second tier of Spanish football. During his stay at Hyderabad FC, he was a regular as he featured in all 20 league stage games for the Nizams. In his career, Onaindia has played 355 matches. Despite being a centre-back, the 32-year-old has also managed to score on five occasions. Notably, the centre-back boasts of a reputation of appearing 13 times in the Copa del Rey alongside scoring a goal.

Odei Onaindia has spent his career mostly at Spain, apart from India. In Spain, he played for clubs like UD Melilla, Burgos CF and Barakaldo CF.

Hyderabad FC’s preparations for ISL 2022/23

Hyderabad FC bagged the ISL Trophy last season. This season, they have ensured the extension of a few key individuals. Bartholomew Ogbeche and Joel Chianese extended their contracts a few days back. Adding to this, players like Sahil Tavora and Laxmikant Kattimani have also decided to stay at the club. The Nizams have signed Soyal Joshy from the Kerala Santosh Trophy winning side as well.

The main target for Hyderabad FC is to ensure that most of their squad is retained.  Else, it would become a difficult task for Manolo Marquez to again build from scratch. As it is, their reliable right-back Asish Rai has left for ATK Mohun Bagan. Also, there have been rumours which claim Juanan to leave the club. However, no confirmation has been found on this topic.
