The 32-year-old custodian won the ISL Golden Glove with ATK in the 2019-20 season.
NorthEast United are currently in a slow build-up for the 2022-23 edition of the Indian Super League (ISL). Meanwhile, Khel Now can confirm that they have signed goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya from East Bengal.
“Arindam Bhattacharya has penned a one-year contract with NorthEast United. It is a done deal,” sources close to the developments informed Khel Now. The goalkeeper had previously played for SC East Bengal and was also the captain of the Red and Golds.
About the Player
Arindam Bhattacharya kick-started his football career at the Tata Football Academy. He later spent a couple of years at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Academy as well.

He signed his first professional contract with Goan outfit Churchill Brothers and won the I-League with them in 2008-09. Stints at Mohun Bagan, the now-defunct FC Pune City and Bharat FC, Sporting Clube de Goa, Bengaluru FC, and Mumbai City followed before he joined ATK ahead of the 2018-19 season.
At the Kolkata club, the 32-year-old quickly established himself as their first-choice goalkeeper. He won his first and only ISL title to-date with them in the 2019-20 season. When ATK merged with Mohun Bagan last year, the shot-stopper joined the newly-formed ATK Mohun Bagan and represented them in ISL 2020-21. The consistent performances of Arindam Bhattacharya secured him the Golden Glove award for that season.

But, at SC East Bengal, we only witness a shadow of the goalkeeper. Recurrent injuries and inconsistency made things difficult for the custodian and situations led him to give up his captain's armband. He made a total of 11 appearances for SC East Bengal.
Northeast United FC's pre-season preparation
NorthEast United recently announced the appointment of Marco Balbul as their head coach. The tactician joined the club with rich experience in the Israeli Premier League. The NorthEast outfit has also signed exciting prospects like Jithin MS and Emil Benny from the I-League. They recently strengthened their defence with the addition of Gaurav Bora from Odisha FC, while also retaining several players.
