Jamshedpur FC sign Lazar Cirkovic

Jamshedpur FC have solidified their fortress with the addition of the Serbian center-half.

Jamshedpur FC has made a significant addition to their squad with the signing of Serbian international Lazar Cirkovic on a one-year deal. The 32-year-old center-back brings a wealth of experience and physicality to the Red Miners’ defense, standing at an impressive 6 feet 4 inches tall.

Cirkovic’s impressive resume includes a vital role in Chennaiyin FC‘s qualification for the Indian Super League(ISL) play-offs, making 19 appearances in total. He has also won the Serbian First Division and Serbian Cup twice with FK Partizan Belgrade from 2014-17, including a double in the 16-17 season.

Cirkovic was thrilled with the move to Jamshedpur FC and said,

The seasoned defender has played most of his senior football in the Serbian First Division, making 146 appearances for FK Rad, FK Partizan Belgrade, and Kisvarda FC. He has also had stints with Swiss side FC Luzern, Israeli side Maccabi Netanya, and Hungarian club Budapest Honved FC in the 2022-23 season.

Cirkovic’s European experience includes eight appearances in the UEFA Europa League against top-tier teams like Tottenham Hotspur, as well as six appearances in the UEFA Champions League Qualifiers. At the international level, Cirkovic has represented the Serbian National Football Team at the U-21, U-19, and U-18 levels.

Head Coach, Khalid Jamil lauded the defender as he said, “We are thrilled to welcome Lazar Cirkovic to Jamshedpur FC. His experience as a center-back and versatility to play as a midfielder will be a valuable asset to our team. Having played in top leagues and experienced Indian football last season, we expect him to bring solidity and depth to our defense. He needs to show his game by performing his best and being solid in defense. I have a lot of expectations from him.”

Cirkovic will don jersey number 3 and join the team soon in preparation for the upcoming ISL season. His signing is a significant boost to Jamshedpur FC’s defense, and fans can expect a strong performance from the Men of Steel with Cirkovic on board.
