Clubs across seven countries interested in signing Roy Krishna, says wife

The Fijian striker has had two brilliant seasons in the Indian Super League.
Fijian striker Roy Krishna, after two impressive ISL season with ATK Mohun Bagan, has attracted interest from clubs across seven countries. In an interview with Fijilive, Naziah Ali-Krishna, the 33-year-old's wife and agent revealed the situation.
The interested clubs come from Qatar, UAE, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, England and India, according to Ali-Krishna. Before arriving at ATK in 2019, the Fijian striker has had successful tenures in New Zealand with Wellington Phoenix, Waitakere United and Auckland City. Krishna remains the highest goalscorer in Wellington Phoenix's history with 51 goals.
As things stand, a deal has not been reached. All the interested clubs, including ATK Mohun Bagan, are currently on track to sign Roy Krishna, said Ali-Krishna.
"We still haven’t finalized any deals yet. There has been more interest, but we are taking our time to decide based on COVID-19 and its effects on the countries these offers are coming from,” she said.
With a few of months remaining for the start of 2021/22 season, there's still plenty of time left for them to decide. "The next season for most leagues doesn’t start until September. So, we have a lot of time remaining to decide and come to a conclusion," she said.
Referring to the chances of Roy Krishna returning to ATK Bohun Bagan, she did not rule out the possibility. "India is improving. But, we need to make sure that we weigh everything before deciding," said Ali-Krishna.
Similarly, Ali-Krishna stated reduced wages due to the pandemic as a major deciding factor. "We're still in talks with various agents. It’s difficult to make a decision because some leagues have reduced player salaries too," she revealed.
After arriving in India, Roy Krishna played a vital role in ATK's third league triumph with 15 goals. Krishna helped ATK Mohun Bagan to finish runners-up in the 2020/21 season, with 22 goal contributions in 23 matches. The 33-year-old was awarded the Golden Ball for his contribution.
