Ravi Rana to extend contract at ATK Mohun Bagan for three more seasons

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder was part of the AFC Cup squad in the recent qualifiers.

ATKMB is all set to extend the contract of Ravi Bahadur Rana. The 19-year-old Attacking Midfielder from Jammu and Kashmir will sign a new deal keeping him at the club till 2025. The club is expected to announce the signature very soon.

A source close to the development confirmed “Juan Ferrando is much impressed with his abilities. Ravi Rana will stay with the club for three more seasons.”

About the player

Ravi Bahadur Rana started his football career with Tata football academy. After that, he moved on to play for the U-18 team of Jamshedpur FC. He impressed the Jamshedpur officials with his performance and as a result, was promoted to the reserve squad and later to the senior squad. Rana signed for ATKMB for the 2021-22 season during the summer transfer window. He has represented ATK Mohun Bagan in the ISL on one occasion.

Rana made his debut for the Mariners against Mumbai City FC when he came on for the final couple of minutes in a 1-5 defeat. He also played in the 5-0 win over Blue Star SC, in AFC Cup 2022 qualifiers.

He also has the experience of playing for the U19 national team. Ravi Rana represented the nation in seven matches scoring one goal.

ATKMB in AFC Cup

After a disappointing Indian Super League campaign, ATK Mohun Bagan have now cemented their place in the AFC Cup 2022 group stages with thunderous wins over Blue Star SC and Abahani Dhaka respectively. Juan Ferrando's side started their qualifying campaign with a handsome 5-0 victory over their Sri Lankan opponents. They then rode on a hat-trick from David Williams to beat Abahani Dhaka from Bangladesh 3-1 in the final playoff match.

The Mariners are placed in Group D alongside fellow Indian club Gokulam Kerala FC, Bangladesh's Bashundhara Kings and Maldivian club Maziya S&RC. ATK Mohun Bagan begin their AFC Cup 2022 campaign against the Malabarians on May 18.
