Sethu FC climb on top of IWL, ARA FC, Sports Odisha gain places

Sethu FC continues their winning run after beating PIFA 1-4 today in the Indian Women's League (IWL) at the 7th Battalion Ground. The former league champions ran riots over PIFA to secure their seventh win in a row.
In the 12th minute of the game, Anju Tamang opened the scoresheet for Sethu FC. PIFA provided plenty of space inside the box which Anju rightly utilized to send the ball to the back of the net. Minutes after Durga doubled the lead in the 18th minute as Sethu continued to run riot. The goal shower continued with Renu scoring the third from the spot-kick in the 21st minute.
PIFA tried hard to make a mark in the game as they made some quick changes. At last, Nisila pulled one back for PIFA making it 1-3. But soon after the goal, the Tamil Nadu club was down to ten within the 40th minute after Kowsalya got a sent off by the ref for a challenge from behind over Zarastyn.

Going into the breather PIFA maintained the lead as it remained 1-3.
After the breather, the scoreline remained the same till the regulation time as Sethu kept on dominating the game. Finally, in the added time Sandhiya scored the winner to ensure Sethu’s winning run continues in the IWL. With enough space in the middle, Sandhiya did no mistake to slot it home easily to make it a 1-4 win for her side. After this win, Sethu FC climbs up to the top of the table with 21 points from 7 matches.
ARA FC ease past Mata Rukmani FC
ARA FC takes home full points after an emphatic 0-4 win against Mata Rukmani FC today in the Indian Women’s League (IWL). The Gujarat side registered their third win this season.
The game started with ARA FC dominating from the very first minute as they kept on creating chances. Mata Rukmani came up with good defensive composure and they kept things at bay.

Finally, in the 16th minute, the deadlock was broken with Kiran finding the net from the edge of the box with a sublime finish. Thereafter ARA took the momentum by their side and Mata Rukmani suffered from the high pressing game from the visitors. Though ARA created a lot of chances yet they lacked vehemently in the attacking third as they failed to find the target.
At last at the stroke of the halftime, in the 45+3rd minute, Madhubala scored from Nisha’s accurate cross to double the lead for ARA. Going into the breather ARA maintained a comfortable 0-2 lead.
In the second half, ARA made a quick comfortable start as they increased the lead to 0-3 within the 58th minute. With Manisha scoring from the edge of the box. It was all ARA FC for the best part of the game. Anju scored the winner in the 78th minute from a very tight angle to increase the lead to 0-4 for ARA as they kept on their dominating display.

Sports Odisha beat Odisha Police
Sports Odisha secured three points in the ongoing Indian Women’s League (IWL), earning a 4-1 victory over local rivals Odisha Police at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Goals from Sumitra, Satyabati, Pyari and Subhadra were enough to hand them a fourth victory in the league.
Odisha Police skipper Sumitra Xalxo gave her team an unprecedented lead despite Sports Odisha being the favourites on paper. She scored thanks to an exquisite curler into the top corner. However, as the match progressed, Sports Odisha took control. Sumitra Hembram netted the equaliser with a glancing header.
Subsequently, Sports Odisha took the lead courtesy Satyabati Khadia, who pounced on a poor clearance inside the box and tapped it in. Odisha Police were lucky to stay only one goal behind before halftime as Pyari Xaxa made life difficult for their defenders, but could not score a third.

However, the attacker finally got on the scoresheet a minute into the second half. Xaxa showed some individual brilliance to shrug off her marker and place it into the bottom corner to make it a two-goal lead for her side.
A fourth was added three minutes before the hour mark for Sports Odisha by Subhadra Sahoo, who latched on to a loose ball inside the box and finished with precision.
Odisha Police made a late charge to reduce the deficit. Sarojini Tirkey’s shot from inside the box was cleared off the line by Jabamani Tudu of Sports Odisha to keep the three-goal lead intact. Seven minutes were added for stoppages but the game did not see any more goals.
