Odisha Sports thrash Sirvodem, Mata Rukmani record maiden win in IWL

Mata Rukmani FC managed a narrow win in the last game of the day.

Odisha Sports bags home full points with a dominant 9-1 win against Sirvodem SC in the Indian Women’s League (IWL) today at the 7th Battalion Stadium.

Odisha made a quick start by finding the opener as soon as in the 2nd minute of the game. Satyabati Khadia struck from the left and sent the ball straight into the net. 

They continued to maintain a dominant show all across the game. In the 14th minute, Odisha doubled their lead with Satyabadi adding a brace to her name. 

Ahead of the half an hour mark, Odisha made it 3-0. Pyari Xaxa pulled the trigger for Odisha this time.

In the 37th minute, a howler from the Sirvodem custodian lead to a ball landing to Jabamani Tudu and she did no mistake to slot it home. Going into the halftime Odisha Sports earned a 4-0 lead for themselves in IWL.

After the breather, Sirvodem seemed a better side as they kept on creating chances. It was in the 53’ minute that Sirvodem got their breakthrough with Ernestina pulling one back from the spot.

But things turned tough for the Goan side as Odisha scored three back-to-back goals in the 58’, 59’, and 61’ minutes making it 7-1. Pyari, Jasoda, and Deepa found the net respectively.

The goal shower continued as Jasoda Munda earned a brace for herself in the 63rd minute making it 8-1 for Odisha.Finally in the 90+3’ minute Pyari bagged the winner for her making it a hattrick for herself from a free space inside the box.

After this win, Odisha Sports is fourth in the league table with 7 points from 4 matches in IWL 2021-22.

Aparna Narzary scores hat-trick helps Indian Arrows win

Indian Arrows defeated Odisha Police 4-0 at the Capital Ground in Bhubaneswar and picked up their second win of the Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2022 on Wednesday, April 27. Apurna Narzary scored a hat-trick for the young side.

The AIFF’s developmental side found an early lead in the 13th minute via Apurna Narzary. Captain Amisha Baxla’s tantalizing cross was spilled by the Odisha Police goalkeeper and the No. 12 scored with an easy tap-in.

Narzary made it 2-0 for Indian Arrows immediately in the 19th minute. Sunita Munda’s shot from the left side of the box hit the crossbar and before the Odisha Police goalkeeper could clear it, the No. 12 quickly turned it into the back of the net. In the 35th minute, Indian Arrows took complete charge of the game and made it 3-0.

This time, Munda found the back of the net as she directed a low cross from Amisha Baxla towards the goal as the ball trickled past the line. To put the game to bed, Narzary made it 4-0 in the 75th minute and completed her trick with a perfectly lobbed goal into the back of the net.

Odisha Police were dealt an injury blow as first-choice goalkeeper Sanjukta Tirkey was stretchered off during the game. Meanwhile, the win takes Indian Arrows further up in the points table and could turn out to be crucial three points as the campaign continues.

Mata Rukmani record maiden win in IWL 2021-22

Mata Rukmani FC edged past Hans Women FC 3-2 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar to pick up their first win of the Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2021-22 on Wednesday, April 27.

The game turned out to be a feisty encounter right from the beginning, with both sides coming inches close to scoring. On one occasion in the 12th minute, Muskan Khan almost gave Hans Women the lead, but her effort from close range was denied by the woodwork in IWL match.

Just before the stroke of half-time, Mata Rukmani’s Ripika Khorram put in a wonderful solo effort before forcing an error from Hans’ Sana Chanu as the latter tipped the ball into her own net to make the score 1-0 in favour of the club from Chhattisgarh.

After the restart, Hans Women quickly pulled one back through captain Jyoti Ann Burrett who was lively throughout the game. However, on the other end, Mata Rukmani skipper Reet Kashyap produced a goal of the season contender in the 64th minute, striking it home from long range to make it 2-1.

The defender saw an opportunity and took her chance from almost the halfway line. The ball took an odd bounce in front of the Hans Women goalkeeper and landed straight into the net.

Having taken charge of the game, Mata Rukmani scored another through Priyanka Kashyap in the 78th minute. The No. 7 placed her shot perfectly into the top right corner from inside the box. However, immediately in the 84th minute, Hans Women reduced the deficit to make it 2-3.

Substitute Lakshmi Verma made the most of a perfect assist from Jyoti and struck from an odd angle to beat the goalkeeper at the near post. Unfortunately, her side couldn’t score another game ended 3-2 in Mata Rukmani’s favour.
