Tottenham Hotspur may be missing James Maddison when they visit Newcastle United on Saturday, The Telegraph revealed. The midfielder fell awkwardly in the game and needed medical attention on the pitch.
Tottenham Hotspur began their 2026-27 season with a 3-0 loss to Brentford over the weekend and will return to action on Wednesday in the EFL Cup.
Spurs face Charlton Athletic in the second round of the Carabao Cup before hosting Newcastle in their second Premier League game of the new season.
However, they could be without one of their key players during the upcoming games after he sustained a blow during the match, which was another blow to De Zerbi after losing the game.

Maddison replaced Mikey Moore in the 68th minute against the Bees. He required medical attention for a knock received during the game after the 29-year-old fell uncomfortably on his shoulder after coming on.
It was his first appearance since playing only three games last campaign due to a knee injury suffered during a pre-season exhibition against Newcastle.
Maddison has been recovering from his own ACL rupture and has yet to start a game. He has a long history of injuries, and De Zerbi undoubtedly understands that he can’t rely on him to be available every week.
However, it remains to be seen as the midfielder will undergo further scans to monitor the situation and whether he will be available for their next game.
Meanwhile, Spurs, who opened the season with a defeat, will hope to regroup when they host Charlton in the EFL Cup.
