The centre-forward will leave Leicester City at the end of the season.

After 13 years with Leicester City, Jamie Vardy will leave at the end of the current campaign.

Jamie Vardy, who has made almost 500 outings during a trophy-filled stint in the East Midlands, is a transforming figure at the King Power Stadium.

Since joining for £1 million from Fleetwood Town in 2012, the 38-year-old has established himself as one of their greatest players and led Leicester to an incredible Premier League title in 2016.

The England international rose from non-league star to win Premier League player of the campaign and FWA Footballer of the Year while playing for the Foxes. He additionally lifted the FA Cup, the Community Shield, and the Championship thrice.

The Premier League match against Ipswich on Sunday, May 18, will be his last match at the King Power Stadium. Jamie Vardy stated in an emotional video that was uploaded to Leicester’s X account:

“To the fans of Leicester, gutted that this day is coming but I knew it was going to come eventually.

“I’ve had 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, some downs, but the majority all highs. But it’s finally time to call it a day, which I’m devastated about but I think the timing is right.

“I just want to sincerely thank you all for taking me in as one of your own. Leicester will always, always have a massive place in my heart and I will make sure that I will be following for the years to come in what I hope will be even more success for the club.

“As for now, this is my goodbye but you will see me again soon, I promise.”

The striker is two goals short of reaching 200 goals for the team overall and departs as their all-time Premier League scorer. In the 2015–16 Premier League season, Jamie Vardy scored 24 goals to help Leicester win their first Premier League championship.

He became the first football player to play from the competition’s preliminary stages to the final after winning the Golden Boot in the 2019–20 season and then leading the Foxes to FA Cup glory under Brendan Rodgers the following year.

Jamie Vardy was the only player left from Leicester’s championship run. Although he was unable to keep them in the top division for the upcoming season, he led them to elevation from the Championship the previous season.
