CD Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel dies at 30 after mid-match collision
The forward died after a day in the hospital.
Jesus de Miguel, a 30-year-old striker for CD Tenerife, passed away on Tuesday, one day after going into cardiac arrest due to a collision during a game, according to the Spanish second-tier team.
Seven minutes into stoppage time, the Segunda Division match against Andorra was called off due to Jesus de Miguel’s collapse following a collision with away custodian Jesus Owono. The latter had rushed out of his area to clear a long ball and struck the striker in the chest with his knee.

As players from both teams called up for medical aid, De Miguel lay still. Owono received a straight red card.
“Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing of Jesus de Miguel Alameda,” the club said.
“There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can alleviate this feeling overflowing with sadness.”
De Miguel received medical attention on the pitch for about five minutes before an ambulance transported him to the hospital.
In a show of respect and sympathy for De Miguel’s family, teammates, and Tenerife supporters, the governing body also cancelled the formal presentation for Spain‘s Under-21 international versus Japan.
De Miguel was honoured by football teams all around Spain.
“Our thoughts and support are with his family, friends and loved ones during these difficult times,” FC Barcelona said in a statement.
“Real Madrid wishes to express its condolences and affection to his family, his teammates, his club, and all his loved ones,” the club said.
Born in Madrid in 1996, De Miguel moved from Castellón to Tenerife before the 2025–2026 season, where he scored 11 goals.
