The goalie injured himself in the previous match.

According to the club’s medical statement, Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia will be sidelined for three weeks. All after sustaining an injury versus Racing Santander last night.

Joan Garcia suffered meniscus damage in his right knee. He will be out for around three weeks, according to medical tests conducted at the club’s training field on Thursday.

Joan Garcia sustained an injury during the encounter against Racing. He was replaced at halftime by Wojciech Szczesny.

The event occurred at the conclusion of the first half. He slid behind his goal while trying to catch the ball on a part of the pitch that had become wet due to the rain in Barcelona.

Despite the fact that he did not fall severely, the goalkeeper’s knee hurt right away. Hansi Flick chose to take no chances and replaced him during the break.

Following the game, the German coach verified Garcia’s knee injury. He expressed hope that the goalie will recover in time for Saturday.

However, testing has shown that Garcia will be sidelined for three weeks. The custodian will consequently miss the forthcoming match against Sevilla. He should be available to Flick following the next international break.

Barcelona’s medical team has ruled out the need for surgery. The damaged knee is not the same as the one that caused him trouble last season.

Flick must now pick who will take over in goal against Sevilla.

When Garcia was pulled off against Racing on Wednesday, Szczesny took his place instead of summer signing Dominik Livakovic.

However, the Polish custodian made a costly error that resulted in Racing’s second goal. So Flick will have to think again before making his choice before Saturday’s meeting.

Despite this, the manager is believed to stick with the experienced custodian as the first choice in goal in Garcia’s absence. Meanwhile, Livakovic, who has yet to make his Barcelona debut, will be keen to turn heads in training and win a spot.
