Medics treated the midfielder before transporting him back to the England dressing room on a stretcher. Then to the hospital for additional treatment. Jordan Henderson’s World Cup campaign might be finished.

Jordan Henderson played one game in the group stage, coming on as a second-half replacement against Panama. He did not play against Mexico. However, he was booked in the second half after getting into an incident while warming up on the bench.

England enjoyed a memorable night at Azteca

Nonetheless, Tuchel’s team had a memorable night. Mexico had only lost two competitive games at the Azteca in 89 meetings since 1966. England made it three following their win.

After the game was postponed by an hour due to storms, Mexico attacked with their ferocious fans, raising the decibel level even higher than in their prior encounters in their home fortress. However, England stood strong and took the sting out of the game.

England made their first visit to the iconic stadium since losing to Argentina in the 1986 World Cup quarter-finals, where Diego Maradona’s “Hand of God” goal and mazy dribble sunk Bobby Robson’s team.
