Man City has been in legal trouble with the Premier League!
Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho has launched a sarcastic dig at Manchester City, following the latter’s guilty verdict in the Premier League’s legal case.
An independent commission set up by the Premier League found City guilty of 114 of 115 charges of serious financial misconduct. The club has subsequently launched an appeal against that verdict, which has delayed any prospective punishment.
Mourinho, speaking with Italy’s Corriere dello Sport, joked that City’s legal case will continue for a long time through verdicts, appeals, and further appeals. He even suggested that he may not live to see the final outcome.
“I would rather laugh about it,” Mourinho said. “I think we will eventually get an ending, but we are both in our 60s, and we’ll need to be lucky enough to still be around when the final verdict arrives.”
“There will be a verdict, then appeals, then more appeals.”

City have been found guilty of breaching Premier League regulations between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons.
The independent commission found the club guilty of all the charges related to those financial regulations. They were also found guilty on three of four charges regarding their failure to cooperate with the investigation.
The authorities accused City of using “sham” commercial agreements to inflate revenue and understate costs by more than £900 million over a decade-long period. City have rejected all the allegations against them.
If the club’s appeal, which was launched on October 2, is unsuccessful, it remains to be seen what punishment is imposed upon them. The appeal will be heard privately, and only once it concludes will the outcome and sanctions be revealed.
