The striker has been absent from Atletico’s training sessions.
The Julian Alvarez transfer story has taken an unpleasant turn, with it being revealed that the issue is hurting the player’s mental health.
The Argentine star remained open about his ambition to move to FC Barcelona for a long time. But Atletico Madrid have battled to swallow their pride and decline the transfer to a direct competitor.
Instead, they strained relations with Barcelona, stating unequivocally that a move to Catalonia was impossible, and even forcing the player to move to Arsenal against his wishes.

Overall, the incident has had a significant impact on Julian Alvarez, who is now reported to be depressed. The attacker has missed four days of training with his team, from Tuesday to Friday.
On Tuesday, Atletico Madrid scheduled a session for injured players and World Cup returnees, which was attended by everyone except Alvarez. The club was unhappy at the moment, but they disregarded his absence.
However, Atleti refuse to engage with the reigning LaLiga winners. They are apparently attempting to push Julian Alvarez to join Arsenal.
The striker is presently trapped in a tug-of-war between his parent club and Barcelona, where he is the top target to take over Robert Lewandowski’s number nine shirt.
The player is being kept against his will. The appropriate thing to do would be to allow him to chase his “dream,” as he described it at the World Cup, by joining FC Barcelona. Only five days remain in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, the Gunners have also been hoping to hijack the deal. Atletico are open to selling the striker to the north Londoners.
What happened to Julian Alvarez?
He was missing training due to illness but has now been diagnosed with depression.
