Rahul KP was not happy with a fan’s comment on Instagram.

Kerala Blasters midfielder Rahul KP found himself involved in a social media spat this week after a fan publicly called for him to leave the club.

The incident unfolded on Instagram, where a fan directly messaged KP urging him to move on from the Blasters. Rahul KP, known for his passionate personality, did not shy away from addressing the comment.

Sharing a screenshot of the message in his Instagram story, which likely contained criticism of his performance, KP responded with a message of his own. The exact wording of his response mentioned, “I didn’t ask any fan when I joined the club in 2019. You are like the rats that I already knew. I am well prepared for this phase. I’ll do whatever I feel is best for me. Hence now after the season, why would I care about what people say?

“What’s most important for me are my parents because I struggled hard to reach the top. Thus, your hate won’t bother me much.”

The reports suggest he defended his commitment to the team and emphasized the pressure players face.

This is not the first time Rahul KP has spoken openly about the challenges of dealing with online negativity. In a recent interview, he acknowledged the pressure that comes with playing for a passionate fanbase like the Kerala Blasters. He also spoke about the importance of filtering out negativity and focusing on the support of true fans.

The Kerala Blasters management are yet to comment on the situation. However, the club has previously spoken out against online harassment directed towards players. In a 2022 statement, the Blasters called for “civility and respect” on social media, urging fans to “voice their opinions constructively.”

This incident serves as a reminder of the complex relationship between athletes and fans in the age of social media. While social media platforms offer a valuable space for fans to connect with their teams and the players, they can also be breeding grounds for negativity.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how Kerala Blasters navigate this issue and foster a more positive online environment for their players and fans.
