Not good, unfortunately: Zidane gives Kylian Mbappe injury update following Turkey vs France Nations League clash

After getting hurt while scoring the game-winning goal for France in a 1-0 Nations League victory against Turkey on Friday, Kylian Mbappé will be leaving the team, clouding Zinedine Zidane’s coaching debut.
After being set up by Michael Olise, Mbappé scored the game-winning goal in the 54th minute with a low shot.
But shortly after scoring his 67th goal, setting a new record for France, the Real Madrid star sat on the pitch, rubbing his left knee and grimacing.

Without a forced challenge from an opponent, he seemed to sustain the damage on his own. The Los Blancos star felt the agony right away after his shot. He was originally treated and put back on the pitch, but he soon fell again and needed to be replaced.
“No, it’s not good. It’s not good, unfortunately,” Zidane told French television. “He (Mbappe) will have to go back. We will not take risks, he has extended his knee when he took the shot. It’s not very encouraging.”
According to the French Football Federation, Mbappé “suffered a tendon injury and will miss the rest of the camp.” Additionally, as per a Madrid-based journalist, Arancha Rodríguez, the recovery time is around two weeks. She even said he has suffered a hyperextension injury.
Kylian Mbappé was able to leave the pitch on his own. Zidane subbed on Désiré Doué to take his place.
Kylian Mbappé was placed on the left wing in Zidane’s initial starting lineup, followed by Olise on the other flank and Ousmane Dembré, who joined Rayan Cherki to form a formidable French attacking quartet.
Although the uneven playing surface at Kocaeli Stadium in İzmit was a contributing cause, a scrappy beginning saw several mishandled passes from both sides.
During this international window, France will play three more Nations League games: two against Belgium and one against Italy.
