The forward has been in partnership with Nike for 19 years.

Kylian Mbappe is likely to end his contract with Nike after 19 years of partnership with the brand as he looks to ink a new deal with a lesser-known brand.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Real Madrid striker is set to cancel his contract with the American company, and his next step might be considerably more startling than merely switching sponsors.

Kylian Mbappé is close to collaborating with an unexpected company aiming to make a big splash in the football industry. The initiative may even allow the French player to launch his own line and hold a piece in the firm.

In recent months, Adidas and Under Armour have allegedly expressed interest in signing Mbappé to a deal when his contract with Nike expires. However, recent report indicate a very different picture.

The plan is to make the Frenchman the face of a new business trying to enter football with high-end footwear, and Kylian Mbappé the biggest name.

Instead of merely earning another sponsorship agreement, the France captain could actively benefit from the project’s success by owning a piece of the firm and developing his own brand.

The premise unavoidably comes to mind Michael Jordan’s success, with his partnership with Nike eventually transforming Jordan Brand into a worldwide juggernaut that extended well beyond basketball.

Of course, the initiative involving Mbappé is still in its early stages, and there has been no formal confirmation of his future sponsor.

Losing Mbappé would be a big loss for Nike, particularly after 19 years of developing a connection with one of football’s most attractive players.

The American manufacturer recently produced unique Superfly 11 boots to commemorate the striker’s Golden Boot victory at the FIFA World Cup 2026, when he again ended as one of the tournament’s top players.
