The young Senegalese star Lamine Camara is a versatile box-to-box midfielder.
On the final day of the summer transfer window 2026, we might see a lot of movement from the major clubs around Europe. The English Premier League side, Chelsea, are now reportedly closing in on signing another player to strengthen their squad for the 2026-27 campaign.
With Enzo Fernandez set to join Manchester City, Xabi Alonso will need a strong replacement. Lamine Camara fits the picture here. The young Senegalese midfielder has previously proved himself for his national team.
He joined the Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in 2024. He has been an important part of their first team since then.
Chelsea are reportedly also pursuing AS Roma’s Manu Kone, but manager Gian Piero Gasperini is reluctant to let the midfielder leave. The Blues have now made a Deadline Day offer for Camara, and it will be interesting to see how things will roll out.

Lamine Camara was born on January 1, 2004, in Bignona, Senegal. He developed a passion for sport at a very young age. His father was not in favour of him pursuing his football professionally.
He wanted him to continue his studies instead. But Camara eventually convinced his father to allow him to focus on the game.
He initiated his footballing journey in Dakar with Galaxy FA and then joined Casa Sports in his native region. Lamine Camara performed really well in the regional tournament and caught the eye of Génération Foot, one of Senegal’s most renowned football academies. The same academy has produced stars like Sadio Mane and Ismaila Sarr.
Camara became a part of Génération Foot in 2019 and also displayed top performances for Senegal’s youth sides. He played a key role in Senegal’s success at the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in January 2023. The midfielder went on to win the African U20 Nations Cup as well.
Lamine Camara developed into a versatile box-to-box midfielder known for his energy, ball-winning ability, progressive passing and willingness to contribute in the final third. He signed for FC Metz B during the 2022-23 season. A year later, he was a part of FC Metz’s senior team.
At the end of July 2024, he joined AS Monaco. Since then, he has played a crucial role for the Ligue 1 side. Camara’s performances and the likely departure of Enzo Fernández have now reportedly seen Chelsea come up with an offer of around €45m for the Senegalese midfielder.
AS Monaco are finding this bid to be very low, but talks are still ongoing.
