Lamine Yamal is set to play his first FIFA World Cup final.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, the final will be played between the Copa América champions and the UEFA Euro winners. Thus, the game is set to be high-stakes.

Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is playing in his third FIFA World Cup final, while Lamine Yamal, who recently turned 19 earlier this month, is set to become the third-youngest player. Only after Pele and Giuseppe Bergomi.

However, before the game, the 19-year-old took to social media and shared a message with his supporters and fans.

Lamine Yamal uploaded a story on Instagram ahead of the FIFA World Cup final clash between Spain and Argentina. The 19-year-old uploaded a picture from his childhood, where he can be seen smiling while posing with his hand above. He also gave a caption to his story, which read:

“for you and for the street.”

The 19-year-old has always been close to his roots. Born in Rocafonda, a Mataró neighbourhood just north of Barcelona, Yamal never leaves an opportunity to pay homage to his roots and the culture he comes from, and his latest Instagram story is one of them.

He also often flashes a trademark hand gesture when he shows the number ‘304,’ a reference to the postal code ‘08304’ of his hometown. Meanwhile, he often wears cleats featuring the flags of both Morocco and Equatorial Guinea, the homelands of his father and mother, respectively.

The picture of Lionel Messi bathing Lamine Yamal has also resurfaced online over the last week. The photo was taken as part of a charity calendar produced at the Barcelona stadium by the local newspaper Sport and UNICEF.

Interestingly, both football stars will complete a full circle when they face each other in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
