Skipper Kyrshan Lyngshing’s goal at the half hour mark secures all 3 points for Langsning FC in their Gionee Shillong Premier League match against Meghalaya Police...
The heavy autumn downpour couldn’t deter the spirits of the players and the first half was an action packed 45 minutes with the momentum shifting from one side to another. Langsning started the better team and saw more possession in the first 15 minutes but hardly had any chance at goal. The Police outfits then had their share of possession and nearly broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when their skipper Niwan-O-Ganphoh beat the Langsning goalkeeper with a delightful curl only to be cleared away from the goal by Langsning defender Algan Sun. Bickyson Kharkongor nearly scored at the other end moments later but the Police goalkeeper did well to keep the shot out. The resulting corner saw the first goal of the game as the Langsning players used their height to their advantage with skipper Kyrshan Lyngshing scoring from close range. Meghalaya Police, with their ever faithful comrades cheering them launched successive waves of attack but Langsning’s keeper kept them at bay.Langsning goalkeeper tips the ball out for a corner.
Second half saw Langsning trying to take matters into their own hands as they looked to add to their lead and they thought they did in the 56 minute of the game but Wallam Nongkhlaw’s goal was rightly disallowed for offside. Rostom Khyriam then saw his beautiful outstep free kick miss the far post by inches past the hour mark.
The police outfits then found themselves having more possession in the last 10 minutes of the game and pressed for an equaliser but only got corner kicks out of their constant pressing. They nearly converted one of their corners in the 80th minute when the Langsning keeper made a mess of his save but the defenders saved his blushes as they blocked out the attempts of the police outfits.
