Lalramliana and Billu Telli scored the goals for Chawnpui whereas R Malsawmtluanga and V Laltanpuia scored for Mizoram Police.

It was not a dream start for Jamshedpur FC reserves as they failed to maintain their lead against Chawnpui FC, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat in their first match of the LG Independence Cup played under the floodlit Lammual ground on 1st August evening.

The Men of Steel took a first-half lead through Billu Telli from the spot on the 35 minute which went unanswered in halftime.

The youngsters from Jharkhand looked good value for their lead at the start of the second half but a revitalised Chawnpui FC proved to be too much to handle as they conceded an own goal from Subham Ghosh on the 54th minute.

Buoyed by their equaliser and a vocal support from their fans, Chawnpui FC pressed on and found their winner through Lalramliana midway into the second half.

Jamshedpur FC will come up against Kanan FC in their next match on Friday afternoon while Chawnpui FC will battle the same opponents on Monday evening..

On the other hand, Mizoram Police FC overcame First Division opposition Kanan FC on Wednesday in a 2-1 victory.

A spot-kick from R. Malsawmtluanga and a second-half finish from V. Laltanpuia ensured consecutive three points for the Police side.

Kanan FC scored late on through a special goal from Lalhriatpuia but could not find an equaliser before time. They will rue their missed chances in the first half as Isaac Lalnunpuia forced Mizoram Police FC keeper Muanawma to make a save while Lalhmingchhuanga also came very close.

Mizoram Police for their part, controlled proceedings for a majority of the match although they were also guilty of some wayward finishing.

The Police team will now face defending champions Chhinga Veng FC on Friday evening after Kanan FC entertain Jamshedpur FC in the afternoon.
