The former I-League champions put six goals past their opponents on the day.

An entertaining affair ended up all square as Ramhlun North FC and Electric Veng FC split points in a 2-2 draw on Thursday.

Ramhlun North FC enjoyed a dream start with Lalnunmawia finding the net after being put through by Lalliansanga.

Electric Veng FC pegged them back in the 38th minute after missing a couple of chances. David Lalchhuanawma providing the finishing touch to put his side level.

But RNFC retook the lead almost immediately when Lalliansanga scored from a Mawizuala freekick delivery.

Electric Veng FC reaped the rewards for their endeavour in the second half with their shining spark Vanlalhmangaiha, guilty of spurning a couple of chances, came up with an equaliser on the 66th minute.

Ramhlun North FC will now face Aizawl FC on the afternoon of August 4, Saturday while Electric Veng FC face off against Bethlehem Vengthlang FC in the evening.

A hattrick from Lalkhawpuimawia and strikes from Lalrinfela, Lalrinchhana Tochhawng and Hmangaihkima ensured three points for Aizawl FC as they earned their first win in the LG Independence Cup.

A sublime freekick from Lalrinfela on the 20th minute was followed by a header four minutes later from Lalrinchhana Tochhawng as Aizawl FC made Chanmari FC pay for their errors in the first half.

Chanmari FC could not recover in the second half with Lalkhawpuimawia scoring twice in five minutes for Aizawl FC. Hmangaihkima added their fifth on the 77th minute and Mapuia completed his treble nine minutes from time.

Aizawl FC who are on three points from two matches will take on Ramhlun North FC who has four points from two matches on a crucial match on Saturday afternoon in their next fixture while Chanmari FC will clash with the same opposition next Tuesday.
