Lalkhawpuimawia scored a brace to hand his side the victory against the Police side.

Aizawl FC turned on the style in the semi-final of the LG Independence Cup as they overcame a vibrant Mizoram Police FC with a 4-2 victory.

The evening fixture at AR Lammual saw plenty of action from early on as Aizawl FC's Lalkhawpuimawia proved to be a handful in front of Lalmuanawma's goal. But it was a goal scoring defender Lalrinchhana Tochhawng who opened the scoring on the 11th minute from a Lalrinfela corner.

Lalkhawpuimawia then added two more on either side of halftime as Aizawl FC looked to seal a comfortable victory en route to the final.

Mizoram Police FC, who were unfortunate in the first half to not find the net, had other ideas as they pulled one back through a freekick from R. Malsawmtluanga.

Mizoram Police scored again on the 86th minute through their new recruit Malsawmfela but their hopes of an equaliser were dashed as Aizawl FC took advantage of their opponent's attack mindedness with a strike from F. Lalremsanga in stoppage time ensuring victory.

The second semi-final will take place on Saturday evening with Chhinga Veng FC taking on neighbours Electric Veng FC.
