The French outfit have a squad full of world-class players for the upcoming season.

Paris Saint-Germain is one of the powerhouses of European football. They are once again overwhelmingly favourites to win the French Ligue 1 in the 2022-23 season. The main objective for the club will be to finally win the UEFA Champions League. With stars like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar among others in the team, they have the firepower to win all the trophies on offer.

The French outfit has already won the Trophee des Champions under new manager Christophe Galtier. He is the former LOSC Lille manager who took them to a shock Ligue 1 title and then had an impressive stint with OGC Nice last season. He will aim to finally deliver European glory to a club that is investing huge money every year into building a powerful team.

Here is a look at how the Parisians could lineup in the 2022-23 season across multiple competitions.

GK - Gianluigi Donnarumma

The exceptionally talented Gianluigi Donnarumma will take his place between the sticks. It is going to be his second season with the club after moving from AC Milan in 2021 on a free transfer. The 23-year-old is one of the best custodians in world football and already has over 275 senior appearances.

CB - Sergio Ramos

Christophe Galtier will probably go with a three-man defence with Sergio Ramos as one of the centre-backs. The former Real Madrid skipper is a key figure and will be central to the team if injuries don't hamper his chances. He was one of the scorers against FC Nantes in the 4-0 win during the Trophee des Champions fixture. His experience will be significant in major fixtures in the upcoming season.

CB - Marquinhos

Marquinhos played in the centre of the three defenders and will likely keep that place for the rest of the season. He is the skipper of the team and will aim to lead by example. The Brazillian is now in his ninth year with the club and his significance in the team remains paramount.

CB - Presnel Kimpembe

Presnel Kimpembe continues to play a vital role in defence despite talks of his impending exit. PSG is still pursuing Milan Skriniar and it remains to be seen if Kimpembe remains beyond the transfer window. In the scenario that he does, there is no doubt that the defender will be a regular starter.

CM - Marco Verratti

Marco Verratti is perhaps the most important figure in the midfield for Paris Saint-Germain. The Italian keeps the ball rolling with his immaculate distribution and also helps in initiating turnovers leading to counter-attacks. A midfield maestro, Verratti’s presence is key for the club and he will definitely play a big role in forthcoming fixtures.

CM - Vitinha

One of the newcomers this year, Vitinha takes his place alongside Verratti in the centre of the midfield. The former FC Porto player joined the club for €41.5m. He is only 22 and will develop as the season progresses. It will be interesting to see if Galtier rotates between Vitinha and another new signing Renato Sanches for this particular position.

RWB - Achraf Hakimi

Achraf Hakimi takes his place on the right flank in a 3-4-3 system. The pacy full-back has enough quality in the attacking third to play as a right-sided winge backs. He is a constant threat with his darting runs down the channels and will hope to deliver pinpoint crosses for his teammates waiting in the box. The 23-year-old is one of the most exciting wide players in Europe.

LWB - Nuno Mendes

Nuno Mendes is a left-back by trade but he will play a more advanced role in the current PSG setup. The system becomes a 5-2-3 in defence while it goes to a very forward-minded 3-4-3 in the attack. The 20-year-old full-back has joined PSG from Sporting CP in Portugal for €38m. He will be hungry to prove his worth in the upcoming season.

LW - Neymar

Neymar - the most expensive player in world football - will be one of the regular starters. The Brazilian will be one of the major figures in the team if his injury record improves. Neymar is still world-class and can orchestrate any game on his day. The 30-year-old will aim to improve on his 13 goals and eight assists from last season.

ST - Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe is one of the best players in the world. He is obviously one of the first names in the starting lineup. Thanks to a new contract at PSG, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will stay at the club until 2025. He scored 38 goals and made 26 assists in 45 appearances last season and will certainly hit big numbers once again.

RW - Lionel Messi

The front three of PSG is the stuff of dreams of a football fan. With Lionel Messi teaming up with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, the attacking trio looks unstoppable on paper. The legendary Argentine will step into his second season with PSG after signing from FC Barcelona last year on a free transfer. He scored 10 goals and made 14 assists in all competitions last season and will likely surpass those numbers this year.
