Iraola will have a lot on his plate in the new season.
Andoni Iraola was named Liverpool’s manager ahead of the new season and the Spaniard has already been rather active. He has welcomed two new signings to Anfield and has even led the team to a couple of pre-season victories.
At Liverpool FC, Andoni Iraola’s high-energy, vertical 4-2-3-1 style will favour energetic ball-winners, press-resistant midfielders, and fast transition strikers. Here we have ranked the players who can excel under him next season.
List of players who can thrive under Andoni Iraola at Liverpool
| Rank | Player |
| 5 | Victor Munoz |
| 4 | Dominik Szoboszlai |
| 3 | Cody Gakpo |
| 2 | Florian Wirtz |
| 1 | Alexander Isak |
5. Jeremie Frimpong
Jeremie Frimpong can prosper under new Liverpool boss Iraola by playing in the attacking full-back role that allows him to maximise his blazing pace in a high-intensity pressing system while also benefiting from a supportive management approach.
Iraola is likely to alter Frimpong’s role by relieving him from the heavy defensive responsibilities of a classic flat right-back and deploying him further up the pitch.
4. Dominik Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to succeed under Iraola by channelling his high work rate into an aggressive pressing system, using his physical dynamism in short transitions, and taking on a main leadership role.
Working as an active central runner enables him to break lines, boost the attack, and recover defensively. As one of only a few leaders in the squad, his aggressive mentality aligns with the new manager’s expectations.
3. Cody Gakpo
Cody Gakpo can prosper under Andoni Iraola if he adapts to a fast, direct tactical identity and uses his physical qualities through the left wing in the near term.
Gakpo plays on the left wing, where better synergy with overlapping full-backs like Milos Kerkez may lead to more final-third opportunities. Having a better grasp of when his teammate bursts forward or underlaps will offer Gakpo more alternatives within the box rather than being isolated wide.
2. Florian Wirtz
The attacking midfielder did most of his work for Leverkusen in that central No. 10 position. Last season, Slot regularly used the playmaker on the flank not only to get Dominik Szoboszlai into the lineup, but also to protect his little new signing from the brutality of Premier League midfields.
Germany took a similar approach during this summer’s World Cup, but Iraola has no intention of following suit. Iraola has already stated that his plan is simple, as he will play the player in his natural position as an attacking midfielder.
1. Alexander Isak

Many eyes will be on Alexander Isak once again after the Reds broke the bank to bring the striker to the club, but he failed to demonstrate on the pitch due to an injury-ridden season.
Isak will have a chance to revive himself. He can prosper under Andoni Iraola the following season thanks to high-intensity pressing, quick vertical transitions, and a tactical link-up with Florian Wirtz.
