Under the salty Atlantic breezes carrying off the Irish Sea, the Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, United Kingdom, gears up to host a Matchweek 8 fixture of the Premier League. Home team Liverpool and Brighton lock horns in what is set to be a thrilling clash.
With three wins in seven games, Liverpool are ranked fifth in the Premier League points table with 12 points. They won their last three games, including a Premier League win over Brentford 2-1 before thrashing LASK 6-3 and Villarreal 4-3 in their most recent encounter.
Iraola’s side have lost only once in 15 games. They would be keen to extend their unbeaten streak with a win over the Seagulls. Their home form in the Premier League, however, has not been very optimistic, and the Reds would be keen to turn around their home form.
Brighton, on the other hand, are ranked third in the table. A win can take them above Arsenal. They have been brilliant so far.
They have won games against Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Arsenal lately in the English top tier. They have also fared well in the UEFA Conference League, winning 4-0 against Kauno Zalgiris before playing a goalless draw recently against Czech side Jablonec.
Fabian Hurzeler would be keen to go all guns blazing against the Reds as three points are at stake at Anfield.
Players to Watch
Ronald Araujo (Liverpool)
The Uruguayan defender from Rivera is recently coming after his side’s 6-1 win over India in the FIFA International Window in Kolkata. He scored in Liverpool’s last two Champions League wins over Villarreal and LASK. The player has been phenomenal for the Reds.
He will be up against Maxime De Cuyper on the left flank. The former Barcelona captain, who has won several accolades with the Blaugrana outfit, is a core defensive general for the Reds.
Charalampos Kostoulas (Brighton)
The Greek striker from Thessaly has honed his skills with Olympiacos before making a move to Brighton in 2025-26. He has been in top-notch form so far for the Seagulls, scoring five and giving three assists in 10 games for Fabian Hurzeler’s side.
He will be up against a solid Liverpool defence boasting Van Dijk and Jeremy Jacquet. A technically gifted and complete centre forward, the Greek teenager will be keen to find his name in the scoresheet at Anfield.
