This time, Liverpool and Manchester City are two of the best sides in Europe in recent times. The former have experienced a rocky start to the season, while the latter have picked up where it left off last campaign.

However, their rivalry has been intense in recent years, but since the appointment of two new managers, Klopp and Guardiola, Liverpool and City have been unbeatable. Both are not traditional rivals because Liverpool have a long history and the ideal reputation in Europe, with six Champions League titles, which City are yet to win despite having a high-calibre squad. Both cities are 35 miles apart in the northwest of England, and the clubs have been involved in constant matches since the industrialization, which also included the industrial and economy of England.

Liverpool have always accomplished more than City, and only Manchester side which has as great prominence as Liverpool are City's rivals United who have enjoyed more success in the past alongside Liverpool. However, since the takeover of Abu Dhabi PM Sheikh Mansour, City have turned their fortunes around.

In the current season, the Etihad side have been more productive in the Premier League, and they are once more title frontrunners, while Merseyside are in 10th place with just two wins.
