Carabao Cup’s most successful team eyes home win over struggling Spurs at Anfield.
Bearing the historic scars and triumphs of over a century on Merseyside, the Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, United Kingdom, gears up to host Round 3 of the Carabao Cup. Home team Liverpool and Tottenham face each other in what is set to be a thrilling clash.
The Reds are the most successful side in Carabao Cup history, with 10 titles, most recently in the 2023-24 season. Liverpool have just won once in their first four games after drawing matches against Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Fulham recently.
They kickstarted their Champions League campaign with a win over Atletico Madrid. Alexander Isak, with three goals, is their top scorer, whereas Cody Gakpo has given three assists. Iraola’s side are unbeaten in the last six games and would be keen to extend their unbeaten run at home.
All is not well in the White Side of North London, as Tottenham Hotspur are off to one of their worst starts in Premier League history after failing to find the back of the net in the first four games. Despite some star-studded signings like Tonali, Fernandes, Marmoush and Savio, Spurs are yet to score a goal in the PL.
In the Carabao Cup Round 2 fixture, they got the better of Charlton Athletic 5-1 after goals from Moore, Solanke, Danso, Savio and Ben Davies. Robert De Zerbi’s side are in dire need of goals. A win in the next game against Liverpool at Anfield can be a major morale boost.

Ronald Araujo (Liverpool)
The Uruguayan defender who is on loan at Anfield from FC Barcelona will be tasked with the responsibility of nullifying threats from the right wing. Additionally, he will be making those overlapping and accelerated runs to set up Victor Munoz upfront.
He will be up against Egyptian winger Omar Marmoush on the wing. A talismanic leader for the Uruguay national team.
Andrew Robertson (Spurs)
It will be a homecoming for the Scottish defender at Anfield in different colours after rendering his services to the Reds for nearly a decade. After making over 350+ appearances for the Reds, Robertson made a marquee move to North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
